Chinese Martial Arts History

It is believed by many historians that the origins of many various Asian fighting styles can be traced from the countries of Asian, through China, all the way back to India and the Middle Eastern region of the world, predating even the birth of Christ. A popular theory states that because of the chaotic state of the Middle Eastern region of the globe, society was unable to develop the arts into what we now know them to be today.
Many historians hold the Chinese responsible for starting the systematic study and compilation of the combative knowledge that exists in the fighting arts of Asia. The Chinese martial arts and the Martial Arts in general have a very long and clouded history due to the poor record keeping of previous centuries. There are many different ideas that various martial arts styles and so called historians have come to put forward as fact but in reality the true detailed history of the Asian arts have been lost to time. One can only examine the various historical theories and formulate possible logical conclusions.
The following information is but one popular theory. It is offered as an accepted, edited and generalized brief history of how the Chinese martial arts developed into what we now know them to be.
